Hi World!
Quite a few things have changed for me over the last few months, One of which was landing a new job
Thankfully I’m finally back to doing the kind of IT I love doing going out meeting people and solving problems which I am so glade to be back to doing after time in other parts of the IT business.
I am also really getting back in to my photography I even managed to grab a Olympus Pen for what compared to the full price was penny’s. It’s not really a mini DSLR because it uses a mirrorless system where as a DSLR uses a mirror to bounce the image from the lense through to the viewfinder and show you whats going on, the Pen camera uses a the live view screen much like a point and shoot camera does but by using the accessory port and the hot shoe you can add one of the electronic viewfinder available to make it more like a DSLR to use, even so this little camera would still give most any entry level DSLR cameras a run for there money.
As well as being much lighter and smaller than a DSLR it still has a lot of the normal DSLR features such as removable\changeable lenses, lots more manual functions, a hot shoe for bigger flashes or other extras such as an the electronic viewfinder I spoke about earlier but in a much smaller and lighter body, It’s technical name is a “Micro four thirds or Micro 4/3 camera. The model I currently have is a Olympus E-PL1 which is not the newest version but has most of the current models features, The only thing that I would have liked is the ability to record video at 1080p video recording in a better format such as the AVCHD format on the E-PL3 as my E-PL1 can do very nice video at 720p but uses motion jpeg which has a limit of just over 7 mins\2gb per video which is a shame as most videos I do for things like youtube can be around the 15 minute mark but hey the videos still come out looking good and with some creative cuts to merge them together it works just fine
One thing I do really like about this camera is the ability to use changeable lens although Micro 4/3 is still a fairly new format and as such the lenses can be very expensive at the moment there is a way around it, As long as you don’t mind manually focusing you can with the help of some helpful adapters uses lenses from old school film cameras and even lenses from some DLS’s providing it is a manual focus lens which an ebay can be fairly inexpensive and opens up a whole other world for you to try from crazy zoom lenses to high quality prime lenses with out having to foot the bill to badly.
As I have already been out taking a lot of pictures again I am going to bring back my old dedicated photography part of the site so you nice people can see just what I have been up to
While it is being put back together it may change a few time and maybe even be a bit buggy but head over and take a look around on Evilbobbins photography if you want to have a look
Catch you all later!
